Fanar Ali has traded in precious metals, jewellery and watches for years. What began as a sideline is now a fixed address for people in the Basel region who want to sell gold, silver or jewellery – often from an estate, a separation, or simply because a piece has sat in a drawer for years.
Deliberately having no shop is part of the idea. No window means: no chance purchases, no pressure, no curious looks. Instead an appointment you set, at a place where you feel safe.
Fanar Ali does every valuation himself. He explains how he arrives at a price, shows the current rate, and says so honestly when a piece has more sentimental than material value and selling is not worth it.
Fener Juwelier works under Swiss law: purchases only against ID, with a written receipt, from persons aged 18 or over.
